 
                                                            Professor Emeritus and former Professor of Clinical Medicine at UNIFESP/EPM , with a PhD in Cardiology (1978) and a postdoctoral degree in Clinical Medicine (1990) from the same institution; he was also a Full Professor of Emergency Medicine at EPM/UNIFESP. Founder and president of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Medicine (SBCM) (current administration 2023–2026) and former executive secretary of the National Commission on Medical Residency of the Ministry of Education (2004–2007). Editor/coordinator of the classic Treatise on Clinical Medicine (Roca), an award-winning work (Jabuti Award) and widely referenced.
A clinician and cardiologist graduated from EPM/UNIFESP, Prof. Dr. Antônio Carlos Lopes built a career that integrates healthcare, teaching, and management . At the university, he led the Internal Medicine discipline and structured Emergency Medicine programs ; at SBCM , he promotes continuing medical education and technical advocacy for the specialty. He is the author and organizer of reference works and courses in Internal Medicine, with recognized performance in the training of clinicians and in the discussion of medical residency policies.
He was voted the best cardiologist in São Paulo by a Datafolha/Folha de S.Paulo survey among fellow physicians, in a vote of 822 physicians across 11 specialties . She has participated in high-profile interviews and programs—for example, an interview on Globo’s Programa do Jô (Jô’s Show) about prevention and clinical care, and reports from CREMESP ( São Paulo State University) when she took on a role at the Ministry of Education related to medical residency. In 2023, her name also appeared in reports by Piauí magazine and TV Cultura/UOL about allegations of harassment at Vila Nova Star Hospital, informing her of her dismissal at the time.
